The New York Police Department suspended an officer who allegedly used the loudspeaker on their squad car to promote President Donald Trump’s campaign, the department announced Sunday.
The New York City police officer was filmed driving around blaring “Trump 2020” on Saturday night while on patrol, according to ABC News. The New York Police Department (NYPD) initiated an investigation after independent reporter Talia Jane tweeted video of the incident Saturday.
“Suspended without pay,” NYPD tweeted Sunday. “The police officer who is under investigation for using a department vehicle’s loud speaker for political purposes has been suspended, effective immediately.”
NYPD officers in Flatbush were allegedly saying “Trump 2020” over and over again on their patrol car’s speaker tonight.

The police officer only stopped after they realized someone was filming them, Jane tweeted. However, the officer did repeat the phrase on video after the person who filmed the incident dared the officer to say it again.
“Do it again,” the person said. “What, you can’t say ‘Trump 2020’ now? Fucking pussy. Say it again.”
The officer then said: “Trump 2020.”
“Go fuck yourself, you fucking fascist,” the person filming responded.
Another angle of the incident showed the officer repeating “Trump 2020” several times. At one point, he told people filming to “take a picture” and to “put it on your Facebook.”
Although the department announced one officer was suspended, there appeared to be other officers nearby, according to video of the incident.
The NYPD patrol guide prohibits officers from “endorsing political candidates or publicly expressing personal views and opinions concerning the merits of any political party or candidate for public office” while on duty or in uniform.
The New York City Police Benevolent Association (PBA) endorsed Trump in August.

“Go f yourself your f-ing fascist.” What an angry and ignorant person. This is the type of person officers have to deal with on a regular basis: people who are angry, disrespectful, dirty, uncompliant, and often mean them harm. Officers are underpaid, and clearly this one knows what is best for his country. If he went against policy, have a sit-down and perhaps issue a warning not to do it again, but suspend without pay takes it too far, and the fact that an a-hole like the person taking the film can get satisfaction out of the department’s action against this officer is cause for concern.
I hope the officer is reinstated soon. If not, I hope he takes legal action against the department. If President Trump gets a hold of this, while not expected, what a story it would be if he offered him a job somewhere else, perhaps as part of his security detail at any one of his hotels or businesses.
How true. The officer had to be taunted before the cameraman or camera woman, was able to catch it on film. Trump 2020. I’d like to see the results of a NYC policeman saying “Biden 2020.”

The officer was clearly wrong and and should have known bettepromoting a political candidate while on duty. In plain clothes he can say whatever he wants, even as the bystander did, though his language could have offended others, in his description of what he saw what was taking place.
While I agree with the officer’s right to free speech, I also agree with the police department’s enforcement of policy.
How many incidents have caused hatred and even violence against police because they did not adhere to policy?
Even minor violations of policy can lead to unfavorable attitudes towards police.

The punishment is way too severe for the offense.
We are a free country with the freedom of speech being in one of our amendments and everyone has a right to their opinion. Some may applaud your opinion and other may not, but it doesn’t give you the right to destroy communities of businesses and hurt others or the right to change the constitution. We all have the right to vote, and when you do your voice is heard, if not you are just a leaf lying on the grass laying a shadow on others personal right to vote, but the wind will blow you away and their opinions will be counted anyways. As for the Officer speaking on the loud speaker Trump 2020 should have been given a warning that he was breaking the city’s rules and allowed to go back to work. This is one of the big problems we have in Government, they think they should have all the power and not just what we (allow). We the people are the true owners of this country and we pay our government to protect us and to keep our infrastructure in good working order, other than that, it is our responsibility to keep our homes, businesses, recreational areas in good working order. We pay utility companies to keep our life lines operational, we pay the police and fire departments to protect us, we pay the military to protect us, and with out all of these we are just a bunch of muts scratching to survive and our voices are silenced. So if you want to be a deaf mutt getting only what the government wants you to have and nothing more go vote for biden. Now if you want to keep your freedom and your American dream go Vote for President Trump. Otherwise go back down in your basement and don’t worry about what’s next.
This officer probably knew already that his actions would not be accepted & bypassed . He still decided to take the disciplinary action & I bet he already knows that NYPD cannot take further actions like removing him from the department since NYPD is losing the majority of their experienced officers already due to the losers whom run this city ! New York is turning into a ghost town & the monied people are leaving in droves. New York will need to borrow Seattles old sign that says ” Will The Last Person Leaving , Please Turn Out The Lights ? “
