Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is on the end of a different kind of reception today: heaps of flack for posting anti-semitic social media messages that could threaten his lucrative pro football career. Over the Fourth of July weekend, Jackson binged on Lewis Farrakhan messages and posted anti-semitic quotes supposedly made by Adolph Hitler, leading former Eagles owner Joe Banner and others to speculate this could be grounds for suspension or termination.

Jackson, who attended Cal-Berkeley and has 1.4 million Instagram followers, posted a screen shot of this incendiary quote:

Hitler said, “because the white Jews knows that the Negroes are the real Children of Israel and to keep Americas secret the Jews will blackmail America. They will extort America, their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were. The white citizens of America will be terrified to know that all this time they’ve been mistreating and discriminating and lynching the Children of Israel.”

Kyle Neubeck, a Philadelphia sports reporter, says the quote’s origin and the original source are dubious at best. The quote may have been made by historian Edwin Herzstein in the book “The Nazis World War II”, but Jackson believes it originated with Hitler and he is endorsing a message filled with anti-semitic remarks about Jewish people secretly controlling the world.

Also on Instagram, Jackson raved about the much-discredited Farrakhan, the notorious leader of the Nation of Islam: 

“This man powerful. I hope everyone got a chance to watch this!! Don’t be blinded. Know what’s going on!!”

Banner and many others did not share Jackson’s enthusiasm for Hitler or Farrakhan:

Neubeck says a recent video of Farrakhan was removed from Facebook for violating hate speech policies. In the video, he referred to Jewish critics as “termites.” During a speech Saturday, Farrakhan accused Dr. Anthony Fauci (director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) and Bill and Melinda Gates of attempting to “depopulate the Earth” through the use of a future COVID-19 vaccine.

Jackson posted a clip of Farrakhan attacking the Gates and Dr. Fauci on social media, too.

Despite Farrakhan’s anti-semitic history, Jackson disputed his social media posts are hateful toward Jewish people.:

“ANYONE WHO FEELS I HAVE HATE TOWARDS THE JEWISH COMMUNITY TOOK MY POST THE WRONG WAY I HAVE NO HATRED IN MY HEART TOWARDS NO ONE.” 

Jackson also doubled down on his point that Jews “will extort America, their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were.”

NBC Sports reporter Reuben Frank wrote today, “But whether the quote is authentic or not, quoting Hitler is about as offensive as you can possibly get.”

Sensing his three-year contract with the Eagles for  $27.9 million is in jeopardy, Jackson posted an apology on Youtube this afternoon. He said he never intended to put down any race. The Eagles announced they are disappointed with their receiver and are evaluating the incident.
